Baier Group (“we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.

This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you visit www.baiergroup.co.nz, contact us, create an account, request a quote, place an order or otherwise deal with us.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

Please do not provide personal information about another person unless you have their authority to do so.

Directly from you through our website, enquiry forms, account registration, shed-design tools, orders, emails, phone calls, text messages or visits to our yard.
From someone acting for you or involved in your order, delivery or project.
From your employer, business, contractor, project manager or account administrator.
From service providers, payment providers, credit-reporting agencies or referees, where relevant.
From publicly available sources.
Automatically when you use our website.

When we collect personal information from someone other than you, we will take reasonable steps to notify you where required by Information Privacy Principle 3A, unless an exception under the Privacy Act applies.

Process orders, payments, collections, deliveries, returns and refunds.
Create and manage customer or trade accounts.
Save and manage shed designs, plans and project specifications.

5. Payments

Online card payments are processed by Stripe or another payment provider identified at checkout. Payment providers receive the information required to process and protect your transaction.

Baier Group does not ordinarily receive or store your complete card number. We may retain limited payment information, such as the payment status, transaction reference, card type, expiry date or last four digits.

Your payment provider’s own privacy policy also applies to information it processes.

6. Marketing communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or agree to receive marketing, we may send you information about discounts, special offers, news and new products.

You can unsubscribe at any time by:

Using the unsubscribe link in an email.
Updating your email preferences, where available.
Contacting us at info@baiergroup.co.nz.

We will continue to send necessary service communications about your account, quotes, orders or transactions.

7. When we share information

We may disclose personal information to:

Employees and contractors who need it to perform their work.
Suppliers, manufacturers, engineers and other parties helping with a quote or project.
Couriers, transport operators and delivery contractors.
Website hosting, software, email, messaging, analytics, security and IT providers.

We do not sell personal information.

Some service providers may process information outside New Zealand. Before disclosing personal information overseas, we will comply with Information Privacy Principle 12, including taking reasonable steps to ensure the information receives appropriate privacy protection or relying on another lawful basis for the disclosure.

We take reasonable safeguards to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, disclosure or alteration. These safeguards may include access controls, password protection, encryption, monitoring, backups and staff procedures.

No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. If a privacy breach occurs that has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as required by the Privacy Act.

9. Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes or comply with legal, accounting and tax obligations.

When information is no longer required, we will securely delete it, anonymise it or otherwise dispose of it.

10. Access and correction

You may ask us to:

Confirm whether we hold personal information about you.
Provide access to that information.
Correct information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
